The Ogun State Government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, has issued a three-day demolition notice on the Sagamu residence and luxury hotel of former governor and serving senator, Gbenga Daniel.
The move is seen as deepening political tensions between the two ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senator Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District, hails from the same zone as Governor Abiodun.

The governor is rumoured to be eyeing a Senate seat in 2027, a plan that could see him directly competing with Daniel, who is expected to seek re-election.
The rivalry has reportedly caused a split within the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Political insiders claim Governor Abiodun views sidelining Daniel from the party as a way to secure the senatorial ticket.
Both men were once allies, with Daniel backing Abiodun’s 2019 governorship victory, but relations have since deteriorated, with accusations of state machinery being used to target Daniel.
According to documents obtained by Peoples Gazette, the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority served both a Notice of Contravention and a Notice to Quit on Daniel’s Asoludero Court residence on Obafemi Awolowo Avenue, GRA, Sagamu, and his nearby Conference Hotel.

The notices, numbered 00049514 and 00047714, were issued by the Sagamu Zonal Planning Office around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8.
