The All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the House of Representatives from Ondo State has leveled serious allegations against the state’s Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
In an open letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, the lawmakers accused Aiyedatiwa of displaying animosity towards the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and sabotaging the party’s interests in the state.
The federal lawmakers alleged that Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown disdain for his late predecessor, Akeredolu, who passed away in December, even before his burial.

They claimed that Aiyedatiwa has been associating with political enemies of Akeredolu and cozying up to the opposition party, actions which they believe could harm the APC’s prospects in the upcoming 2024 governorship election in the state.
The letter, signed by six federal lawmakers including Hon. Adesida Abiodun Cornelius, Hon. Timehin Adelegbe, Hon. Festus Adefiranye Ayodele, Hon. Ojogo Donald Kimikanboh, Hon. Odimayo Okunjimi John, and Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati, called on President Tinubu to intervene and address the situation.
According to the lawmakers, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s actions since assuming office as governor have indicated his hostility towards the late Akeredolu and his indifference to the APC’s growth in the state.
They highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s appointment of Olajide Adelami, a known political adversary of Akeredolu, as Deputy Governor, as a significant source of concern.
The lawmakers also criticized Aiyedatiwa’s appointment of Barrister Kola Olawoye, a suspended APC member and former Attorney General of the state, as his campaign coordinator in Owo, describing it as divisive and against the interests of the party.
In conclusion, the lawmakers expressed concern about the growing divide within the APC in Ondo State, which they attributed to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s actions.
They urged President Tinubu to intervene and prevent further damage to the party’s unity and electoral prospects in the state.
