Congress of Progressive Youths (COPY), wishes to express our opinion about the article written by one Mr Tope Odediran and the press release of a faceless group named “Otoge” which are generally perceived as divisive and retrogressive, contradicting the unity and progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
COPY believes that such divisive narrations, as highlighted in the Odediran article and “Otoge” press release, should be condemned by all to safeguard the peace and unity achieved during the party’s recent local government tour across Osun State by the State Executive led by Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal.
While rising from a stakeholders meeting held at her State office in Osogbo, the COPY executives and stakeholders present strongly urge the APC National Secretary, Sen. (Dr) Ajibola Basiru, to speak to the press to either distance himself from the malicious article and press release or confirm his alignment with the author and the faceless group.
“As the National Secretary of APC, Dr. Basiru is called upon to exemplify discipline, uphold party supremacy, and adhere to progressive traditions for the greater good of the party by coming out to exonerate himself from the needless article of Mr. Odediran and release of “Otoge” group. Anything short of this will give us no option but to assume that he commissioned the author and the group for the dubious tasks.”
Furthermore, COPY contests the claims about His Excellency, Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s performance while in office. We assert that he left a commendable economic legacy that the present government is allegedly squandering.
The concerns raised in the article and “Otoge” press release are regarded as gratuitous and detrimental to the party’s chances in the upcoming 2026 elections.
Lastly, we call for unity, condemn divisive actions, and implore party members from top to bottom, to uphold the principles that foster progress and party cohesion.
Congress of Progressive Youth will continue to contribute to the unity, peaceful coexistence and mobilization of the party under the leadership of Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal and his executives for the victory of the party in the 2026 and 2027 elections.
