Osun PDP appoints Kamarudeen as South-West Zonal Chairman

In Osun State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to choose Barrister Ajisafe Kamarudeen as the party’s South West Zonal Chairman.

This conclusion was reached, according to a statement from the Osun PDP issued following a stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday in Osogbo.

The purpose of the conference, which was announced, was to discuss a wide variety of topics. Important party players, including the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, also participated.

The conference focused mostly on the issue of who would take over as the party’s South-West zone chairman following the untimely passing of Hon. Soji Oluwatukesi Adagunodo, the previous chairman.

“The meeting nominated Barrister Ajisafe Kamarudeen to fill the vacant position, subject to final ratification by the party’s national office, as directed by the national leadership of the party and in consultation with leaders of the party in the zone.”

The makeup of the State’s local government caretaker committee members was another topic of discussion during the meeting. As a result, party stakeholders in each of the 332 wards were instructed to submit a nominee for consideration for the caretaker committee’s formation as soon as possible.

The names of the nominees must be submitted by the stakeholders within a week in order for the party leader to present and review them before sending them to the State Assembly.

The gathering expresses gratitude to the party leader and executive governor of Osun State for his mature approach and big heart in managing state issues. Among many other acts and policies, the governor received particular praise for his transparent process in appointing the newly sworn-in Commissioners and Special Advisers.

According to Infostride News, the previous PDP South-West Zonal Chairman was Soji Adagunodo, a former PDP Chairman in Osun.

His death in 2022 left the post vacant.
