The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended an open invitation to supporters of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to join its fold, following their official departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
InfoStride News recalls that the Omoluabi Progressives, a political group loyal to Aregbesola, on Sunday announced its decision to sever ties with the APC, citing alleged marginalization and internal discontent.
In response, the Osun APC dismissed the announcement as inconsequential, stating that the group had effectively distanced itself from the party since 2022.

Reacting on Tuesday in Osogbo, the PDP Director of Media and Publicity in Osun State, Oladele Bamiji, acknowledged Aregbesola as a significant political figure whose influence cannot be disregarded.
“Former Governor Rauf Aregbesola is a big player in the political field of Osun State,” Bamiji stated. “As a two-term governor, it would be unreasonable to wish him away in the political calculations of the state.”
While noting that Aregbesola remains officially a member of the opposition APC, Bamiji said the PDP would welcome him and his supporters if they express interest in joining the party.
“Politics is a game of numbers. The PDP is already popular and has a candidate loved by the people. We are open to progressives who believe in inclusivity and good governance,” he added.
Bamiji also praised the achievements of Governor Ademola Adeleke, noting that the administration’s performance has attracted interest from many politicians across party lines.
Meanwhile, a prominent member of Omoluabi Progressives, who spoke anonymously, declined to confirm the group’s next political move.
“It is still a bird kept inside a calabash. It can’t be known until it is revealed. People should not bother about it. We are coming out in a solid way,” the source said.
