On Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State took firm action against Olumide Awolumate, the Ward 1 Chairman of the party in Akoko North-West Local Local Government Area, for attacking Olubunmi Osadahun, the Commissioner for Women Affairs in the state.
After Awolumate attacked and assaulted the commissioner over the distribution of palliatives in the local government, he was permanently suspended from the party.
The party in Akoko North-West suspended the troubled ward chairman and informed Ade Adetimehin, the state chairman.

The recent fight between Awolumate and Osadahun, which received extensive notice and condemnation, led to the decision to suspend Awolumate.
Alex Kalejaye, the APC’s state publicity secretary, released a statement indicating that the APC’s local government chapter has followed the directive issued by the APC’s state secretariat.
A full inquiry into the incident had been requested by the party’s state secretariat, he said, and the suspension of Awolumate was regarded to be the most suitable response.
A video of the weekend event has gone viral after being posted to multiple social media sites.
The ward chairman, whose nickname is “Cuba,” was seen on camera assaulting Osadahun.
People were outraged by the video and called for immediate reprimand of the offending party official when it went viral.
Awolumate Olumide has been indefinitely suspended from the Akoko North West branch of our great party, and its leadership has decided to officially alert the State Secretariat of this development.
To guarantee that the suspended Awolumate is appropriately punished and to serve as a deterrence to other leaders and members of the party, Engr. Adetimehin, upon receiving the suspension letter, assured that the State Secretariat will put up a formidable disciplinary committee immediately.
