Manchester United fear Paul Pogba could miss next month’s Premier League clash with Liverpool because of the hamstring injury he suffered against Basel on Tuesday.
He was taken off in the first half of the 3-0 win over the Swiss champions. Pogba did not need visit the hospital but left Old Trafford on crutches.
He had a scan at United’s Carrington training base on Wednesday to see the severity of the problem, with the club now resigning to the fact that the midfielder’s fitness might not be up to speed for the trip to Anfield on Oct. 14.
It is the second hamstring injury Pogba has suffered this year after missing three games in March and April last season.
Jose Mourinho all but ruled Pogba out of Everton’s visit to Old Trafford on Sunday in a recent interview.
France play World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus during the two-week break before United travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.
