French president, Emmanuel Macron has come out to deny any political involvement in the arrest of Telegram founder, Pavel Durov. Recall that Pavel remains in French custody following his surprise detention at a Paris airport on accusations related to the spread of illegal content on his platform.
According to Macron, the claims of political motivation is clearly false information, and Durov’s arrest is simply part of an ongoing judicial investigation in the country.

His words, “It is in no way a political decision. It is up to the judges to rule on the matter. It is up to the judiciary, in full independence, to enforce the law.”
Telegram added that Durov has nothing to hide because the platform operates within EU laws, including the Digital Services Act.
