The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday affirmed Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary.
The decision was announced by BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, during the Board’s 80th session in Abuja.
According to Wabara, the trustees thoroughly reviewed documents submitted by both aggrieved parties before confirming Ude-Okoye’s position.

Background to the Dispute
Ude-Okoye, a former PDP National Youth Leader, was nominated by the party’s South-East Caucus to replace Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.
His appointment, however, has been contested, leading to internal party conflicts.
On January 31, PDP governors, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, endorsed the Court of Appeal judgment that upheld Ude-Okoye’s appointment.
The governors also urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to implement the ruling.
During a meeting in Asaba, Delta State, the PDP Governors Forum distanced itself from Anyanwu, further solidifying Ude-Okoye’s recognition as the party’s National Secretary.
Ongoing Power Struggle
Despite the party’s official stance, Anyanwu has continued to challenge Ude-Okoye’s appointment.
The dispute escalated last week when a confrontation occurred during a meeting at the PDP’s national secretariat in Abuja.
With the BoT now backing Ude-Okoye, it remains to be seen how the party leadership will navigate the lingering tensions within its ranks.
