The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken full control of the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, following a violent confrontation with expelled members loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
InfoStride News reports that the two rival factions clashed on Tuesday as both groups attempted to hold separate meetings within the secretariat complex, leading to chaos and a heavy security presence around the area.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, alleged that he and his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, were tear-gassed by security operatives during the confrontation.
After the situation was brought under control and security personnel restored order, the newly elected National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, formally assumed office at the PDP headquarters.
Turaki arrived at the secretariat in the company of Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde, both of whom have insisted that the leadership elected at the Ibadan national convention remains the only legitimate authority of the party.
