Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Deputy National Women Leader, has resigned to become a commissioner in Bauchi State.
Wanka cited the opportunity given to her by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to serve as commissioner as the reason for her resignation in a letter to the Acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliya Damagun, copies of which were made available to journalists in Bauchi.
She wrote a letter thanking Governor Mohammed for appointing her to his cabinet and the national leadership of the opposition PDP for the extraordinary opportunity to serve as Deputy National Women Leader of the party.

Wanka said that her performance as a commissioner in Bauchi State will be much improved by the expertise she obtained in her role as the Deputy National Women Leader of the party.
Wanka was on the list of 24 commissioner-nominees that Governor Mohammed sent to the State House of Assembly, which was reviewed and approved by the Assembly.
Meanwhile, Hajiya Wanka’s appointment as a commissioner in the Bauchi State Executive Council has been acknowledged and applauded by the PDP National Working Committee (NWC).
Wanka’s appointment by Governor Mohammed was hailed as further evidence of her selfless service, profound intellect, competence, administrative skills, and patriotic roles towards the development of PDP, Bauchi State, and the nation at large by the National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition party, Debo Ologunagba, in a press statement released on Monday.
Besides praising Hajiya Wanka’s technical abilities, the National Working Committee also expressed their pride in having witnessed her humility in service, dedication to duty, and extraordinary capacity for leadership in her capacity as the Deputy National Woman Leader and in her other Party-assigned roles.
The party then praised Governor Mohammed for the choice, saying it shows he values competence and will only work with the best people to run Bauchi State.
