Members of the House of Representatives from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called for the resignation of the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, accusing him of collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Led by Chinyere Ukenga, the lawmakers made their demands known at a press briefing on Monday at the House of Representatives Media Centre.
They alleged that Damagum was scheming to hand over the party to the APC and extend the tenure of Local Government party executives to consolidate his leadership.

Referring to the crisis in Rivers State over party leadership, Ukenga accused Damagum of colluding with the ruling party to undermine the PDP.
The lawmakers threatened to defect from the PDP if Damagum does not resign before the next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
As of now, the identities of all the lawmakers in the group have not been confirmed.
