The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated its commitment to its members, stating that its interventions in the political developments in Rivers State are producing positive outcomes.
Following an emergency meeting, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) assured that the PDP remains united and strong in Rivers State and across the nation.
Under the leadership of Acting Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum, the NWC reaffirmed its dedication to providing steadfast and effective leadership despite alleged attempts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to weaken opposition parties and establish a one-party state in Nigeria.

Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, conveyed these messages in a statement.
The party expressed dissatisfaction with certain leaders’ reckless conduct and statements aimed at undermining critical aspects of the party.
The statement particularly referenced former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido’s public remarks, which were perceived as divisive and detrimental to the party’s unity.
The NWC condemned such actions, alleging that individuals with selfish motives were being used by the APC to disrupt the PDP’s cohesion and hinder its role as an effective opposition for the benefit of democracy and Nigerians.
The statement highlighted that these actions contradict the expectations of leaders who have previously benefited from the PDP.
The NWC emphasized the need for constructive engagement and loyalty to the party and the nation, calling on these leaders to refrain from activities that undermine the party’s efforts and violate its constitution.
The NWC declared its readiness to take appropriate disciplinary measures against individuals who continue to act against the party’s interests, citing the provisions of the PDP’s constitution, specifically Sections 57, 58, and 59.
