The governorship election tribunal’s ruling that Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia was lawfully elected as governor of Benue State has been deemed invalid by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The petition brought by the People’s Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Titus Uba, against the election of Alia of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was dismissed on Saturday, according to a report by Infostride News.
The court found that the petition did not meet the requirements.

In a statement sent by Publicity Secretary Bemgba Iortyom, the PDP in Benue State expressed its disagreement with the tribunal’s decision.
“After reviewing the judgement with its team of lawyers, PDP believes that it does not meet the requirements of substantive justice and is not in alignment with extant electoral laws, guidelines, and regulations,” the party said in a statement.
Therefore, the party has instructed its legal team to file an appeal with the Court of Appeal in Abuja within the time limit set by law.
While the road to justice may be lengthy, our great party invites its teeming supporters across the state to be calm and upbeat in the knowledge that we will eventually succeed in restoring the Governorship mandate.
