The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has called on the state House of Assembly to immediately swear in Hon. Aaron Uzodike, the member-elect for Aba North State Constituency.
Despite the Appeal Court in Lagos restoring Uzodike’s mandate and sacking Destiny Nwagwu of the Labour Party (LP) months ago, Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa has yet to inaugurate the PDP member.
Abia State PDP Chairman, Alwell Asiforo Okere, addressed the issue in a statement released on Saturday by the party’s Acting Publicity Secretary and Vice Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah.

Okere instructed the PDP caucus in the state assembly to ensure Uzodike’s prompt inauguration.
The statement indicated that this directive followed thorough consultations with members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party.
“Abia PDP is convinced that there are no legal obstacles preventing his inauguration, following the issuance of his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on December 13, 2023, which is the only requirement for his inauguration,” the statement read.
The PDP urged Abia elders, concerned citizens, and conscientious members of the Labour Party, especially those dissatisfied with their leader’s autocratic tendencies, to intervene and ensure Uzodike’s immediate inauguration.
The party warned that failure to do so could undermine democracy and force constituents to resort to self-help.
