The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has cautioned its members and supporters against associating with a new coalition movement in the state, describing it as deceptive and misleading.
This warning was issued on Tuesday in a statement signed by the State Secretary of the party, Dan Nyikwagh, who labelled the coalition as an attempt by “opportunistic politicians” to falsely link themselves with the PDP in order to gain relevance.
“The PDP in Benue State has no affiliation with this coalition,” the statement read in part. “We urge our members to remain loyal and not be misled by individuals who abandoned the party but are now seeking relevance by using the party’s name.”

Nyikwagh further alleged that the promoters of the coalition were largely “absent and irrelevant” during past elections and party congresses but are now trying to exploit the popularity of PDP leaders to win support.
“If they are truly popular, let them campaign based on their own records, not by hiding behind the legacy of our party,” he said.
The party reaffirmed its former Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom’s, commitment to strengthening the PDP’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nyikwagh urged party members to disregard any invitations to join the coalition and to remain steadfast under the PDP’s umbrella.
