Bode George, a prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced confidence that the party will recover from its recent setbacks.
George has sworn to bring the PDP back to its former grandeur, and as a result, he has asked its members to maintain their resolve.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) began to show signs of fracture after the party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar, announced that Ifeanyi Okowa, a former governor of Delta State, would be his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

The decision made by Atiku caused the immediate previous governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to lead the G-5 governors and other party chieftains in calling for the resignation of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, who had served as the national chairman of the party in the past.
Because both Ayu and Atiku were from the north, they argued that there should be a “regional balance” and hence Ayu should be removed from his position.
On the other hand, George stated that efforts would be made to advance PDP.
In his speech to the general assembly of the PDP in Lagos, George gave the assurance that the party’s members should continue to be firm despite the results of the most recent general elections because it would not be permitted to slip into extinction.
He spoke the words: “I urge you all, who have been faithful, to remain steadfast; we would ensure that the party regains its lost glory.”
He gave his word that, when the time was right, the national leadership of the party would have to perform a “thorough post-mortem to resolve all issues that affected the party.” He said this with complete confidence.
