A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has vowed that the party’s upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will take decisive action against individuals found to be working against its interests.
George made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, amid ongoing confusion over the party’s 100th NEC meeting scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.
He also addressed concerns about the influence of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the party’s internal affairs, stating categorically that the PDP is not owned by any individual.

“Nyesom Wike does not own the PDP; he joined the party just like everybody else. If you think it’s only because of his money that he remains a member of the party, wait until the NEC meeting where decisive actions will be taken on all those who have committed a ‘hara-kiri,’” George said.
The PDP elder statesman dismissed any comparison between the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he alleged operates under the control of a single individual.
His comments follow Wednesday’s press briefing by PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, who announced the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary and hinted at the postponement of the NEC meeting. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has since refuted both claims.
The 100th NEC meeting is expected to be pivotal in determining the direction of the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly as internal crises and factional tensions continue to shake its foundation.
