President Bola Tinubu has offered board places to state governors, including those elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), but the LP and its presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, have reacted negatively.
Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Chairman Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq stated on Tuesday night in Abuja that Tinubu has requested nominations of qualified individuals to fill the vacancies left by the dissolution of the boards and parastatals of Federal Government agencies earlier this month.
Over 153 organizations, parastatals, institutions, and government-owned businesses have had their boards of directors disbanded by Tinubu.

New nominations were expected to fill at least 2,000 open board seats.
In a statement, Governor Abdulrazaq expressed the forum’s appreciation to the President for allowing the governors to nominate board members from across the political spectrum.
However, Yunusa Tanko, the chief spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, called it a “gimmick” to bring in the opposing administrations and chieftains.
However, Tanko emphasized that this “will not change the fact that Tinubu’s presidency is an illegitimate government.”
We have fought tooth and nail against the APC’s attempts to legitimate this government, but they are using every dirty trick in the book. Until the court issues its verdict and proclamation, we shall do nothing.
But everything we see them doing is, as best as we can tell, an attempt to convince the public that their government is legitimate and worthy of trust. That’s how it really is,” he went on.
