The issue of the non-transmission of result sheets to IReV has been deemed moot by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
The transfer of election results to IReV was not required, according to Justice Haruna Tsammani.
The sitting judge emphasised that no legislation requires polling places to report election results.

Tsammani ruled on the petition filed by the Labour Party, LP, about the consequences of INEC’s tardy upload of photographic election result sheets to IReV.
Tsammani argues, “There is no law that says INEC must mandatorily transfer or transmit the election results electronically from the polling units.”
According to his interpretation of the law, INEC has the authority to choose how election results will be tallied in Nigeria.
