Primate Elijah Ayodele, head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has offered an explanation for why President Bola Tinubu cannot investigate Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Primate Ayodele, investigating Buhari’s administration will “run down” his government, hence Tinubu cannot do so.
Reports had indicated that Buhari had encouraged Tinubu not to investigate his former appointees, so his comment came as something of a surprise.

But Garba Shehu, who used to be Buhari’s spokesman, said the previous president never made such an appeal.
On the other hand, in a speech he titled “Warning to the Nations” on Saturday in Lagos, Ayodele said, “This government will do better than Buhari’s administration, but what they need to do about the previous government they will not be able to do, because if they do, it will run down their government.”
The current administration cannot investigate the Buhari administration.
Ayodele further urged Tinubu to protect the press’s and the public’s right to free expression while in office.
He remarked, “I’m not against Tinubu’s government, l adore it, but at a time when you talk they start pursuing you. They won’t tolerate dissenting opinions when the time comes.
“I will recommend that this government protect the right to free speech and the press.”
