Some supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan advocating his political comeback were on Saturday sighted at the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Elective Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The group arrived with customised flags bearing Jonathan’s photograph alongside that of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, presented as his potential running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
InfoStride News reports that speculation has intensified in recent months over Jonathan’s possible return to the presidential race. Although the former president has remained silent on the matter publicly, some of his close associates have hinted at his readiness to contest.
The presence of the pro-Jonathan group added to the already heightened political atmosphere at the convention, coming just 24 hours after posters of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, were seen around the venue.
The PDP convention, holding at the Lekan Salami Stadium, continues to attract various political interests as the party approaches a crucial restructuring phase ahead of the 2027 general elections.
