A member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Yusuf Galambi, has officially defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal crises within his former party.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read Galambi’s defection letter during Thursday’s plenary session in Abuja and welcomed the lawmaker, who represents Gwaram Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, into the APC.
Abbas also urged ruling party members to embrace their new colleague.

The National Assembly has witnessed a wave of defections in recent times, with several lawmakers shifting allegiance to the APC from opposition parties.
Among the latest defections, Rep. Amos Magaji, representing Zangon Kataf Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, recently moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, while Rep. Salisu Koko, representing Koko-Besse/Maiyama Federal Constituency of Kebbi State, also joined the ruling party.
The growing trend of defections underscores the shifting political dynamics within Nigeria’s legislative chambers as the APC continues to strengthen its majority.
