On Monday, the election of Stainless Nwodo, who had been elected to represent the Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani federal seat of Enugu State in the House of Representatives, was overturned by a Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos. The court was sitting in Lagos.
Rt. Hon. Martins Oke, candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was deemed the victor in the election held in February by the court of appeals.
InfoStride News is quick to point out that on September 8th, the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which was sitting in Enugu, ruled in favor of the election of the LP candidate.

At the tribunal, Nwodo’s victory was contested by both the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oke, and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Samuel Ekwueme.
The two individuals requested that the tribunal dismiss the candidate for the LP due to allegations of certificate fabrication as well as electoral irregularities. However, the court did not consider their pleas.
However, the candidate for the PDP and the candidate for the APC took Nwodo all the way to the appeals court, maintaining that he did not meet the requirements to compete for election.
The court of appeal ruled on Monday that the candidate for the Labour Party was unable to run for office and that there was a basis for the appeal that was submitted. The ruling was communicated to the parties via Zoom.
The panel stated that they will provide further information regarding the ruling at a later date.
