Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary for the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party and now a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has reiterated his position that former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi could not have directed party members and supporters in the state to vote against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
This was in response to an alleged statement by Tony Okocha, whom he then accused of engaging in a slander campaign for political gain.
The APC leader said in a statement released to the media that the fabricated accusation being spread by Okocha was part of a “cocktail of lies” deliberately plotted against Amaechi by his opponents, who view such confrontation as vital to appease their paymasters.

For the umpteenth time, he remarked, it should be highlighted that the aforementioned Okocha was not a member of the APC in the years preceding the election and, thus, knew nothing about how the party operated.
The APC leader also praised Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s national chairman, for his role in disappointing what he called “Wike’s conflict mercenaries,” including Okocha and company, who had come to meet with the APC leader.
According to InfoStride News, Okocha led a group of his associates to the APC’s national secretariat.
Eze claimed they met with Ganduje to get his blessing to launch smear operations against Amaechi and the mainstream APC state executive in Rivers.
“Okocha and his team were disappointed when Abdullahi Ganduje cautioned them not to heat up the polity and allow the leadership of the party at the central work out modalities to calm frayed nerves and resolve every issue affecting the party in the state before delving into constituting another party structure in the state,” he explained.
He stressed again that neither Wike nor Okocha, nor anyone in their inner circle, can expel Amaechi from the APC.
