A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has thrown its weight behind the court ruling that halted impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The faction’s spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, expressed support for the ruling during a press conference held on Thursday.
His comments followed the decision of the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, who declined to constitute a seven-member panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the governor and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

Nwauju said the faction had earlier urged the Chief Judge not to act on the January 16, 2026 resolutions of the Rivers State House of Assembly, citing pending court orders.
“We take this opportunity to restate our earlier call on the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Honourable Justice Simeon Amadi, not to act upon the January 16, 2026 resolutions of the Rivers State House of Assembly,” he said.
According to him, the interim court ruling reinforces their position and should be respected by all stakeholders.
“Based on the interim court ruling, we reiterate these facts and let it be known to all, including the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, that actions taken by persons who were purportedly elected into the leadership of the APC in Rivers State through a kangaroo congress conducted under Umar Ganduje in November 2023 are a direct affront to the court,” Nwauju added.
The faction maintained that adherence to the rule of law remains critical to resolving the political crisis in the state.
