The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has asked for time to bring peace to the party’s rival sections in Rivers State.
This was said by Ganduje on Thursday in Abuja, when he met with Rivers-based APC stakeholders.
The previous governor of Kano stated that legal disputes were destroying the party in the state.

He praised Rivers as a key state in the country, saying that any political party would benefit from the state’s oil reserves and vast population.
You can see, then, why we can’t just dismiss Rivers as a political entity altogether. It just so happens that some of us know our way around Rivers’s political scene,” he remarked.
According to him, the Rivers County Democratic Party’s present crisis began in 2015.
It’s a fact that our party in Rivers is very divided. It’s a reality that litigations wiped out our party in Rivers,” Ganduje stated.
He congratulated everyone who helped the party win in the polls, calling it a “miracle” that they took the presidency in 2020 but the state in 2023.
The party is disorganised in Rivers, but rest assured that we are laser-focused, meticulously organised, and scientific in our approach to politics.
“And so, you give us an enabling environment, give us a chance to put a round peg in a round hole, a square peg in a square hole, to preserve our party’s honour,” he said.
Our victory in the national election in Rivers is a huge opportunity, and we must seize it.
Give us a chance, Ganduje said, and we’ll figure out how to hold the state and national election at the same time without lowering our demands.
According to him, the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) will form a leadership that can bring peace to the state’s competing groups.
But be careful not to overload the system, as this might lead to lawsuits and restart the vicious cycle.
They claim that if you do too much thinking, you become paralysed, so we don’t want that to happen.
“So give us a chance so that we can consult, so that we look at the Constitution of APC and then we wait to see how we can put things in order,” he stated. (NAN)
