Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have rejected calls for the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The call for impeachment came from APC state chairman Chief Tony Okocha, following the political crisis between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Members of the APC, under the Solidarity and Development Forum, described the impeachment call as “reckless and irresponsible,” stating that it threatens the country’s democracy.

The group, believed to be loyal to Fubara, stated that the crisis was unnecessary, highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in settling the matter.
They emphasized that Governor Fubara has shown commitment to peace and inclusivity, aligning with the president’s vision.
In a statement signed by conveners Comrade Kabir Matazu and Igwe Ude-Umanta, the group condemned Chief Tony Okocha’s statements, stating that they disregard the president’s call for peace and pose a threat to the party’s stability and progress.
