Both the current Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, and his immediate predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have been asked by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to put their swords down.
After the Rivers State Assembly made a motion to impeach the governor, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, issued a statement on Tuesday that included a request for the governor’s resignation.
Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja, has been accused of hatching a scheme to overthrow the governor of the state through the process of impeachment, which would result in anarchy throughout the state.

In its intervention, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) urged all parties involved in the dispute to make room for the peaceful and amicable resolution of all of the concerns.
The party assured everyone that it had already begun the processes that were intended to resolve the ruckus via its internal channels for the resolution of conflicts.
“The NWC, therefore, charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and members of our great Party in Rivers State to close ranks, unite, and focus on the onerous task of governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people,” the statement read.
