Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship Candidate in the 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election, has strongly condemned the abduction of students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology.
In a statement issued by Isaiah Davies Ijele, Director of New Media, Muri/Sam Campaign Council, Ajaka expressed deep concern over the attack, describing it as barbaric, cruel, and unfortunate.
He criticized the state’s security apparatus, particularly the outgoing Kogi State Commissioner of Police, for failing to ensure the security of the state.

Ajaka lamented the abduction of students who were preparing for their First Semester Examinations, scheduled to commence on Monday, May 13, 2024, calling it an inhumane act.
Expressing dismay over conflicting reports regarding the number of abducted students, with sources claiming over 40 students were taken, Ajaka demanded transparency from the state government in disclosing the true situation.
He urged the Kogi State Government, under Usman Ododo, to use all available security resources to ensure the safe return of the abducted students to their families.
The statement concluded with a call for enhanced security measures in the state and at the university, emphasizing the importance of swiftly resolving the abduction incident.
