The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to demonstrate boldness in implementing electoral laws and the constitution in future elections.
Shehu Gabam, the National Chairman of the SDP, made this statement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday.
Gabam emphasized the need for INEC to make adjustments based on past mistakes and take decisive actions to rectify them in future elections.

He urged INEC to be resolute in prosecuting electoral offenders and to cancel elections where there is evidence of compromise in the process.
Gabam cited the example of the election in Kogi, where despite the admission by INEC that election result sheets were leaked and pre-filled before the election, appropriate action was not taken.
According to Gabam, INEC has the authority to cancel elections in cases of compromise, as stipulated by the law.
He advised the INEC chairman to rectify past mistakes and ensure that the commission demonstrates seriousness in prosecuting electoral offenders.
Gabam stressed the importance of reorienting Nigerians to understand their rights and privileges regarding the electoral process.
He believed that with proper orientation, people would resist any attempts to subvert their votes, emphasizing that boycotting elections was not a solution in a democratic system of government.
