Senator Boluwaji Kunlere, who represented the Ondo South Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Kunlere’s decision to leave the party, where he had been a member during his tenure in the National Assembly, was communicated through a letter addressed to the party chairman in his Igbotako Ward 2, Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area.
In the letter, which was made available to newsmen in Okitipupa on Thursday, Kunlere expressed his gratitude to the party members for their cooperation and support throughout his membership.

He stated, “I, hereby tender my letter of resignation from the PDP, with effect from Jan. 24.”
While expressing his appreciation, Kunlere also indicated that he has not yet decided which political party he will join, stating, “I will decide who to vote for, after the primaries, by God’s grace. For now, I have not initiated any discussion with any political party.”
Kunlere’s departure from the PDP has stirred discussions about his future political affiliations, especially with the upcoming elections in view.
His decision is expected to have implications for the political landscape in Ondo State as stakeholders await his next move.
The former senator’s resignation comes amidst a period of political realignment and strategizing ahead of the 2023 general elections, adding to the dynamics of political maneuvering in the state.
The PDP is yet to release an official statement regarding Kunlere’s resignation.
