Sergio Aguero became the all-time leading non-European Premier League scorer when he netted Manchester City’s opening goal against Liverpool on Saturday.
Aguero began the scoring at the Etihad Stadium after 24 minutes when Kevin De Bruyne provided him an amazing through ball to round Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and drive home.
It was his 124th Premier League goal since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2011, taking him clear of former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke’s record of 123.
The goal — the sixth successive time Aguero has scored at home to Liverpool — also made him the Premier League’s 15th highest scorer overall, one behind former Arsenal star Nicolas Anelka and two short of Robbie Keane’s tally.
