Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has said he considered joining Manchester United, although he has not thought about a move to Chelsea this summer.
Ramos, 30, was linked with a move to United last summer, but he ultimately signed a new five-year contract at the Bernabeu.
Asked if there was an official offer from United, Ramos told COPE: “Yes.”
Pressed on whether he thought about leaving Real, the centre-back added: “For a moment I thought about a change of scenery, but in the end my priority was always Real Madrid and I thought about that for other reasons.”
It has been reported that incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte could target Ramos when he takes over at Stamford Bridge next season.
However, Ramos said: “I have not heard [anything about interest from Chelsea].
“There are always lots of things said, and I have always said the same, attention from a big club is always a sign that you are doing well. But as long as my fans and my club want me, my main thought is to retire here.”
The Spain international added that he did not feel misled by Real last summer before he committed to the club on a new deal.
He said: “Misled no. Maybe a bit disappointed, but there were problems which got resolved and everyone was happy. But they were not financial problems, as people said.”
Ramos was also pressed on his thoughts regarding Real’s reported pursuit of United goalkeeper David De Gea, whose proposed move to the club fell through last year.
Asked if he would sign De Gea this summer, he replied: “To speak about players who are not here would be a lack of respect for my teammates — Keylor [Navas], Kiko Casilla, Ruben the third keeper — but I have always said the best players should be here, and if the people at the top consider that he must come, for me De Gea is one of the best.”
