Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has explained his decision to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) after previously leaving the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sani had exited the APC in October 2018 following disputes over the party’s primaries.
He later joined the PDP and contested the 2019 senatorial election but lost to the current Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.

On February 16, the former lawmaker officially returned to the APC alongside some members of the PDP and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kaduna.
Speaking on Friday during an interview on Hard Copy, a Channels Television programme, Sani attributed his return to the reconciliation efforts led by Governor Uba Sani.
“A circumstance led to our mass exit from the APC in 2018, and that circumstance has changed, so we rejoined the party in Kaduna State,” he said.
Sani emphasized that he was a founding member of the APC in Kaduna, actively building party structures and securing victories in the 2015 elections.
However, he fell out with former Governor Nasir El-Rufai due to political and personal differences.
“We parted ways over political and governance issues affecting the state, and for that reason, we had to leave the party,” he explained.
“Now, we have a new governor who has been making consultations, building bridges, and reaching out to us.
After discussions, we agreed to return to the party we helped establish in Kaduna.”
