The Local Government Service Commission in Bauchi State said that it has removed six traditional rulers from their positions due to their suspected participation in party politics.
The Commission’s acting permanent secretary, Nasiru Ibrahim Dewu, made the announcement in a statement on Friday, naming the emirates of Bauchi and Katagum as the locations of the impacted traditional rulers.
He went on to say that the two Emirate Councils had been instructed to select monitoring officers until the commission could install genuine traditional rulers, and that the sacked rulers had been ordered to turn over their domains to their secretaries.

Traditional rulers in the Katagum Emirates who are affected include Aminu Muhammed Malami, District Head of Dubi; Bashir Kabir Umar, District Head of Azare; Umar Omar, Village Head of Tafiya; and Umar Bani, Village Head of Tarmasawa.
According to the statement, “Village Head of Beni, Bello Sulaiman, and Village Head of Badara, Yusuf Aliyu Badara,” are among the victims from the Emirate of Bauchi.
