Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Youth Leader, has been selected to serve as the next National Secretary for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is located in the South-East Zone.
Following the South-East Zonal Executive Meeting that took place in Enugu over the weekend, this information was included in a statement that was read by Chief Ali Odefa, the PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-East Zone.
The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, as well as other important party members from the South-East zone were present during the meeting.

In addition, the party rallied support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP’s candidate for governorship in Imo State. The party urged its members in the state to put their differences aside and collaborate in order to ensure the PDP’s success in the upcoming election.
According to Odefa, the meeting approved a resolution that proposed Udeh-Okoye for the position of National Secretary of the party. This was done so that Senator Anyanwu could focus on his electioneering campaign in the state of Imo.
His electioneering campaign and victory at the polls will be somewhat hampered by the fact that he is running for the job of National Secretary.
“As a result of this, the South-East Zone has convened a meeting, and after much deliberation, we have decided to put forward a candidate from Enugu State by the name of Rt. Hon. S.K. Udeh-Okoye to succeed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party.
“We shall send our resolutions in writing to the National Working Committee of our great party for ratification on behalf of the National Executive Committee as provided by our party constitution,” he went on to say after the previous statement.
He went on to say that the decision to back Anyanwu was made as a group effort, and that the party will do everything in its power to secure the candidate’s success in the polls.
“As South-East members of the PDP, we have come to the conclusion that everyone of us must do everything in our power to ensure that our candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, is victorious in the gubernatorial election that will take place on November 11.
In addition, he emphasized that “All party members in Imo State are encouraged to put in their best,” which was something that he said earlier.
Earlier in his speech, Governor Mbah, who is also the leader of the party in the zone, urged the party members to remain steadfast and committed to the party. He said that the zonal leadership would re-strategize to bring the party back on its feet, and he assured them that with commitment and unity of purpose, the party would be successful in the Imo governorship elections.
