Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick has come out to hint that Wojciech Szczesny could extend his stay at the club. This is coming as Galatasaray reportedly plot a bid for backup goalkeeper, Inaki Pena, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, even if Barcelona’s 10 players defended very well against 11 Benfica players, Szczesny definitely worked very hard to secure the victory for the team.

Flick added that Wojciech is number one at the club for a reason, and he was just doing his job.
On his performance vs Benfica, “It’s his job, I’ll put it like that. The other 10 players defended very well against eleven, but of course he helped us a lot. It’s his job. That’s why, at the moment, he’s number one.
When you see players who you know how they played before and you see them in training, you get a feeling. I’m not the only one who decides. I have a great staff around me and we talk a lot about the performance of the players and what they can contribute. That’s how we run the team. It was clear to me that he could get here. So were the other coaches. It’s not a one-man decision. I decided things, but I always want to know what others think.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. It is the third-most valuable sports team in the world, worth $5.51 billion, and the world’s fourth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €582.1 million.
The official Barcelona anthem is the “Cant del Barça”, written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs. Barcelona traditionally play in dark shades of blue and garnet stripes, hence nicknamed Blaugrana.
In March 2021, Lionel Messi overtook Xavi’s record of 767 games played for the club, and presently has made 778 official appearances in all competitions, while also holding the record for the most appearances in La Liga matches for Barcelona, with 520.
