The media office of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to focus on fulfilling its campaign promises instead of targeting critics of its policies.
In a statement on Monday, Tambuwal’s media team condemned remarks by APC spokesperson Felix Morka, who had branded the former governor a “notorious and vainglorious party defector.”
Morka accused Tambuwal of hypocrisy, citing his history of political defections.

However, Tambuwal’s team dismissed the criticism as an attempt to stifle opposition and divert attention from Nigeria’s deepening economic and security challenges.
“Rather than addressing pressing issues like economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failures, the APC resorts to cheap propaganda and personal attacks—a tactic that reveals its desperation and leadership failure,” the statement read.
The media office accused the ruling party of using coercion, enticement, and intimidation to suppress opposition and push Nigeria toward one-party rule.
“The APC’s portrayal of recent defections as a result of President Tinubu’s so-called economic reforms is both misleading and insulting to Nigerians, who are enduring unprecedented hardship,” it stated.
Tambuwal had earlier remarked that no politician with a conscience would join the APC, arguing that those defecting to the ruling party were driven by “stomach infrastructure” rather than genuine political conviction.
The statement further criticized the administration’s handling of the economy, citing rising inflation, worsening insecurity, and increasing unemployment that has forced businesses to shut down and plunged many into poverty.
It also defended Tambuwal’s political legacy, highlighting his role as a founding member of the APC and his “unassailable record of selflessness and patriotism.”
