The All Progressive Congress, APC, has called on its followers in Taraba State to fight for their votes in the upcoming local council elections.
On Wednesday in Jalingo, the state capital, at the presentation of the party’s flags to the candidates for the party’s local government chairmanship, the party urged all the candidates to embrace peaceful techniques for campaigning rather than violence.
The candidates were also instructed to take extra legal steps to counteract the possibility of campaign supporters transporting guns.

The APC Northern Zone Vice Chairman Solomon Jadana, who made the presentation on behalf of the party’s state chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tuktur El-Sudi, said the party is ready to win the upcoming council election and emphasised that elections are not war but all about development.
His party, the APC, “is fully prepared and confident of our candidates’ victory in the election” in the state, he said.
A transparent exercise has been guaranteed to us by both the State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) and the state administration, he added.
Jadana emphasised that the APC candidates are wise and honourable persons who want to bring new, forward-thinking ideas to Taraba state.
He reaffirmed that the APC is prepared to replace the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming political arrangement.
He also added, “all internal crises that made us lose in the last governorship election have been resolved,” so his followers may go about their business without resorting to violence.
