Bulgaria goalie, Plamen Iliev has said there was no racist abuse from home supporters during their Euro 2020 qualifier vs England on Monday.
According to Plamen, the English only reacted and the atmosphere was not that harsh.
During the 6-0 victory, Sterling was targetted by racist chanting, and youngster Tyrone Mings was not spared as well.
However, after the game, Bulgaria coach revealed that he never heard any abuse and it has to be proven before the country is punished.
Goalkeeper Plamen has now agreed with what the coach said by saying the Bulgarian fans actually behaved well.
His words, “If I am honest, I believe they [the fans] behaved well,”
“There wasn’t any abuse [as far as I could hear] and I think they [the England players] overreacted a bit.
“The public was on a good level – I didn’t hear any bad language used towards their or our players.”
