England manager, Gareth Southgate has come out to speak on the government’s plans to introduce an independent regulator for football. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he doubts that the government’s plans will yield any positive result, and he sees the idea as another VAR waiting to happen.

Southgate added that he is not sure about what would be expected from an independent football regulator if we ever have one.
His words, “I’m dubious that we can solve all the issues. For me, it’s another VAR waiting to happen. I know as an organisation, The FA have supported the idea of some sort of financial controls but I’m not sure what is expected of the position (regulator) and who is this person and what their experiences are. Who actually decides when [owners] are good or bad?”
