The Weight Of My Story In Football Is Heavy – Mourinho

Ex Roma manager, Jose Mourinho has come out to say that people expect him to win trophies even when he coaches teams that aren’t cut out for that. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.

According to him, he understands the unfair expectations sometimes because the weight of his story is heavy, and he still meets up to them by reaching 2 European finals in the last 2 years.

Jose added that he has not been presented with any footballing project worth considering since he left Roma.

His words, “I have no projects. What happens will happen. The weight of my story is heavy. I know that even when I coach teams that aren’t cut out to win, people expect me to always win. In the last two years I reached two European finals. I want to train, it is a fundamental part of my life, without training there is no happiness. Where? In any club that has a good training centre to train well. I didn’t have any invitation from a Portuguese club.”

On if he’ll manage Benfica because AVB is now FC Porto boss, “Don’t ask me questions like that… I’m not in football driven by those feelings. Don’t ask me questions about clubs that have a coach. I have always remained apart from any unethical behaviour. Questions like these often ruin my weekend. In London, I live two minutes from Chelsea’s stadium, from my house you can hear the goals and people’s demonstrations. The day the stadium started singing my name, I stopped going to football. I have to go to other stadiums. It takes 20/30 minutes from my house to Luz. I went to two or three games. They started asking questions like that and I’m not going anymore. They screwed my life up with those questions.”

José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix GOIH is a Portuguese professional football manager and former player who is the current head coach of Italian Serie A club Roma. Dubbed “The Special One” by the British media, Mourinho is one of the most decorated managers ever and is widely considered to be among the greatest managers of all time.

Mourinho was born in 1963 to a large middle-class family in Setúbal (a suburb of the Lisbon metropolitan area), Portugal, the son of José Manuel Mourinho Félix, who was known by the name Félix Mourinho, and his wife, Maria Júlia Carrajola dos Santos. His father played football professionally for Belenenses and Vitória de Setúbal, earning one cap for Portugal in the course of his career.

His mother was a primary school teacher from an affluent background; her uncle funded the construction of the Vitória de Setúbal football stadium. The Carnation Revolution leading to the fall of António de Oliveira Salazar’s Estado Novo regime in April 1974 also led to the family losing all but a single property in nearby Palmela.
