Aliyu Audu, a prominent member of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to consider carving out six additional states throughout the country’s many geographical regions.
On Wednesday, Audu, a member of the APC Presidential Transition Council’s Media Strategy Subcommittee, made the call while appearing on a Channels Television program.
The party leader claimed that the growing rural-urban migration might be reduced if new states were created.

Audu claimed that states like Lagos are strained because so many people are migrating there in search of better opportunities.
He said that splitting the country into six states would relieve some of the strain on Lagos by discouraging people from the country, the east, and the west from moving to the city.
More people, more hands, and more procedures are required to achieve this state-level symmetry.
