Thousands of supporters on Saturday joined Tinok Andrew Nok, a former senatorial aspirant in the 2023 general elections, as she officially defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the Labour Party in Kaduna State.
Tinok, the younger sister of former Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Andrew Nok, explained that her decision was driven by the Labour Party’s alignment with her values of honesty and service to the people.
“My decision to join the Labour Party is influenced by Senator Nnadi Usman, the National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party,” Tinok stated, vowing to use her experience to strengthen the party and contribute to its growth in Kaduna State.

Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Jonathan Asake, who represented Senator Nnadi Usman at the event, welcomed Tinok into the party.
He emphasized that the Labour Party is currently in a transition phase and will benefit from her expertise to become a stronger political force in the state and nationwide.
“We are confident that Tinok will play a pivotal role in repositioning the Labour Party in Kaduna State,” Asake said.
During the event, Labour Party flags were presented ahead of the October 19 local government elections, signaling the party’s readiness for the upcoming polls.
Tinok’s defection is seen as a major boost for the Labour Party in Kaduna State, with political analysts predicting a shift in the balance of power as the party’s momentum grows.
The large crowd that attended the event reflected the excitement and optimism surrounding Tinok’s move.
As the October 19 local government elections draw closer, the Labour Party’s performance will be closely watched.
Earlier, the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Yusuf Solomon Danbaki, assured party candidates of full support in the council elections, pledging that the Labour Party would work diligently for their success.
