President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe ahead of his participation in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit, a high-level global forum focused on sustainable development, climate action, and economic transformation.
The President left Lagos on Tuesday following the conclusion of official engagements in the state. According to a statement from the Presidency, Tinubu will first make a brief stop in Europe before proceeding to the United Arab Emirates for the summit, which brings together world leaders, policymakers, investors, and development experts.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit is held annually as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and serves as a platform for discussions on renewable energy, climate change mitigation, energy transition, food security, and sustainable economic growth. President Tinubu is expected to engage in high-level discussions and meetings aimed at advancing Nigeria’s sustainability and development goals.
During the summit, the President is also expected to highlight Nigeria’s commitment to climate-friendly policies, economic reforms, and investment opportunities, particularly in renewable energy, infrastructure, and green technology. The administration has repeatedly emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investment to support Nigeria’s energy transition and long-term economic resilience.
Presidential aides said Tinubu’s participation aligns with Nigeria’s broader strategy of strengthening international partnerships and positioning the country as a key player in global sustainability efforts. The visit is also expected to provide opportunities for bilateral meetings with other world leaders and representatives of international organisations.
The President is accompanied by senior government officials, including members of the economic and energy teams, as well as top aides. Discussions during the trip are expected to focus on collaboration in clean energy development, climate financing, and sustainable industrial growth.
Tinubu has, since assuming office, placed strong emphasis on economic reforms, climate responsibility, and global engagement. His attendance at the summit comes amid ongoing efforts by the federal government to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit and related engagements.
