Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko’s election as senator for the Sokoto North Senatorial District was validated by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Sokoto State. The tribunal is located in Sokoto.
Wamakko, who was running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the victor of the election that took place on February 25 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, his major opponent and the former deputy governor of the state, Manir Dan’iya of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disputed his victory before the tribunal.

Justice Josephine Oyefeso, who was presiding over the hearing and making the decision, deemed Dan’iya’s appeal to be without substance and rendered her decision on Friday.
As the law requires, Oyefeso stated that the petitioner was unable to substantiate the claims contained in the petition beyond a reasonable doubt.
