United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has unveiled an exclusive promotional campaign for its customers in conjunction with the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF), organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The bank, serving as headline sponsor of the trade fair for the seventh consecutive year, has opened a dedicated branch on-site at the fair venue where customers who transact will become eligible for a “Lucky Dip” draw with premium prizes up for grabs.
The fair, which began on Friday at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos and runs until November 17, 2025, has attracted thousands of exhibitors and visitors from across Nigeria and abroad. UBA’s participation underscores its commitment to supporting SMEs, driving trade facilitation, and enhancing customer value.

At the opening ceremony, UBA’s Head of SME Banking, Babatunde Ajayi, spoke about the significance of the bank’s longstanding partnership with LCCI, noting that the trade fair provides a major platform for African businesses. He said the bank’s participation was aligned with its broader ambition to enable enterprises to achieve global impact and connect with continental trade networks.
“Through this activation, we are placing our customers at the heart of one of Nigeria’s premier trade events,” Ajayi stated. “By giving our customers an opportunity to engage in the draw, we are not just rewarding loyalty but also drawing attention to the trade and commerce ecosystem we serve.”
In a statement passed to the media, UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, said the promo reflects the bank’s wide-ranging vision for Africa’s economic transformation. She indicated that the bank sees platforms like LITF as tangible routes to deliver on its white paper ambition of a $4 trillion continental economy.
“Today’s activation is more than sponsorship; it’s an engagement. By offering transactional incentives and premium prizes, we are reinforcing our customer-first philosophy while making trade accessible and rewarding,” Ladipo said.
Under the terms of the draw, UBA account holders who visit the dedicated UBA branch at the trade fair and carry out qualifying transactions — including deposits, withdrawals or transfers — will be instantly entered into the Lucky Dip programme. Winners of the draw will receive premium prizes, although the bank has not publicly disclosed the full prize schedule, other than stating that it will include high-value rewards.
A branch manager at the fair venue explained that the “on-site branch” is fully operational and designed to offer customers the full spectrum of banking services, live draws and instant eligibility for the promo. She added that customers do not need to open new accounts to participate — existing account holders are automatically eligible when they transact at the branch.
Analysts note that the campaign comes at a time when banks are actively seeking to deepen customer engagement in an increasingly digital and competitive banking landscape. The promo is expected to drive foot-traffic at UBA’s fair presence and enhance transactional volume, while simultaneously offering customers tangible value.
A Lagos-based financial expert said: “Promotions such as this are strategic — they support customer retention, encourage activity in bank accounts, and raise brand visibility during a major event. For UBA, the tie-in with LITF amplifies the impact.”
In addition to the prize draw, UBA is also leveraging the trade fair to engage with SMEs and showcase its value-added services for business banking, digital solutions and cross-border trade facilitation under the Africa’s Global Bank brand. Bank officials noted that the fair provides an opportunity for dialogue with small business operators on access to finance, export solutions and digital integration.
Exhibitors participating at LITF told the press that they expected to benefit from the UBA presence. One exhibitor, a manufacturer of agricultural processing equipment, said the decision to partner with UBA gave him confidence in exploring new markets. “The bank’s stand and incentives encouraged me to transact today. It makes a difference when you know that doing business with your bank gives you a chance to win a prize,” he said.
The trade fair itself is one of West Africa’s largest business-to-business and business-to-consumer platforms, drawing thousands of participants and showcasing industrial, manufacturing, service, agricultural and technology sectors. UBA’s continued headline sponsorship highlights its role in supporting the SME ecosystem, trade development and the broader economy.
As part of the draw, UBA assured customers that results will be published and winners duly informed, with regulatory compliance in place. The bank emphasised that the promotion is open to all its account-holding customers who meet the transaction criteria during the fair period.
With the promo now live, UBA customers are encouraged to visit the bank’s dedicated space at the trade fair, transact and join the Lucky Dip draw. The bank will also use subsequent draws and digital communications to keep customers updated on winners and further opportunities.
The positioning of UBA at LITF and the launch of the customer-centric promo underscores how banks are increasingly integrating experiential events with financial services, transforming visits to trade fairs into opportunities for both business and reward.
