
Eyeing a place in the final group phase of qualifiers and a long awaited return to the Nations Cup finals since their last appearance in 1978, Uganda’s Cranes have stepped up their preparations for their first round first leg match against Madagascar this weekend.
Defenders, Joseph Ochaya of Asante Kotoko and Henry Kalungi of Richmond Kickers boosted the Uganda team’s training camp as they trained with the rest of the players at Nakivubo Stadium at the weekend.
Turkish based Martin Mutumba, is expected to resume training Monday after being rested on Sunday. The Cranes continue shaping up Monday at the Mandela National stadium.
Added to the foreign based players’ arrival, coach Micho’s Cranes have been boosted by the recovery of Ethiopian based goalie, Robert Odongkara of St. George FC who is expected in Kampala alongside club mate, Isaac Isinde.
Portugese based duo Alex Kakuba and Luwagga Kizito are also expected to be part of the Monday training while Kenyan based Baba Kizito, Dan Sserunkuma and Aucho Khalid are expected to join the squad on Tuesday.
Uganda play the first leg away in Antananarivo with the return scheduled for Kampala.
