The member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere, says he is still observing developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before making any decision on his political future.
Speaking to journalists at the Imo State NUJ Press Centre in Owerri, Ugochinyere said his priority remains delivering on the legislative mandate entrusted to him by his constituents.
According to him, it is too early to focus on party politics when pressing issues affecting the constituency demand urgent attention.

While admitting discomfort with recent developments in the PDP, the lawmaker said he is being guided by his constituents’ advice to concentrate on legislative duties for now.
Ugochinyere lamented that erosion and insecurity are the two major problems threatening the survival of communities in his constituency. He warned that if immediate action is not taken, the situation could lead to the extinction of some areas.
He criticised the government for showing little commitment to finding lasting solutions, adding that nearly all communities in his constituency are facing severe environmental challenges.
On recent killings in Ideato, Ugochinyere blamed inadequate internal security. He said that with proper funding for local vigilante groups, such incidents could have been averted.
The lawmaker also accused local council chairmen of abandoning their areas, creating opportunities for criminal elements to unleash violence on innocent residents.
